Spotless, luxury hotels with private beach, palm trees and drinks with umbrellas - that's what Dominican Republic is associated with. Those, who heard a little more about the holiday in the Dominican Republic, can remember a name of Punta Cana - a resort with all the shiny hotels. But even there one can find a place a little more Dominican that touristy. El Cortecito - we come there at the beginning and at end of our Dominican Republic roundtrip.

Motorboat slowly swims to shore and stops. We jump to the beach hidden somewhere among the rocks in the National Park The Haitises and we look to the side watching countless birds. During this time, our tour guide and her helpers pull the boat, portable coolers and exhaust of them plastic cups, butelki rumu i sprite'a. Come, you try something out of the Dominican – cries out to us, pressing each cup, that in a moment from the heart is filled with rum and sprite completes. I take my first sip of a drink and immediately I like this light, refreshing taste.

White cemeteries

Preference is given to, that do not like our modern cemeteries. They are quite depressing for me, of przyciężkimi, dark, marble tombstones or marmuropodobnymi. I do not like to go after them. So walking down the street in center Las Terrenas załapuję not immediately, that pass by the cemetery. But in Jarabacoa, when notice, that the gate of the cemetery is open, once out of curiosity, I peeked inside…

The crystal clear water steadily hitting the shore. Approaching and retreating, taken to the soft particles, pale sand. To the accompaniment of the waves on the shore of palm trees growing slowly, imperceptibly lean increasingly toward the ground. Finally overcomes gravity and the tree leans so much, that can no longer stand the place but with a splash and falls into the water…

Nonsense! – Carlos commented when I mentioned to him about another Dominikańczyku, a few days earlier, much surprised, that we are not afraid to travel around the country with Klara local transport and treated us to the news, that we are crazy, because Dominican Republic has the highest of all countries in the Caribbean murder rate for tourists. That's not true, – yet explained – Puerto Rico has the highest. Dominican Republic is only the second!
