And what is this? In the box there is a pile of something, what at first glance looks like round stones. I take one of these stones in the hand. The seller, with which of course we do not have a common language apart from the sign language, moves his hand, as if he was eating something. You can eat it? I imitate him in disbelief. Good luck everyone, who wants to bite the stone. Sri Lankan dentists probably have their hands full of work with broken teeth. But the seller still nods. Yes, yes! Wood apple! This, which I hold in my hand, is not a stone. This is wooden apple. Ok, I want to try!

Maybe it was a case, because someone fell on the fabric before dyeing the wax drop? Or maybe someone was looking kombinował and fun way of decorating materials? It is not known. However, you can expect, that this person was a Chinese. Later, batik spread through Asia and arrived among others in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka in Sanskrit means resplendent country. Maybe it's because I have the impression, Sri Lankans are a nation that is still smiling – Who would be in such a case, not smiling? A friendly look can be found in Sri Lanka at every step. People are receptive, friendly and welcoming. Without hesitation, invite us to their homes, talk about themselves and share the, what they have. And though their life is not always easy, But it seems to me, This positive disposition that somehow simplifies some matters to them. But it is not so, Lankijczyk that everyone comes for life with a smile glued to his face. It happens differently, but generally smiles dazzles Sri Lanka.

As in many cities in Sri Lanka, Kandy is a Buddhist temple. This, however, is unique. It is here the most sacred relic kept, which is located in Ceylon – tooth of the Buddha himself. Dalada Maligawa, so called because the sanctuary with beautiful views over the lake of Kandy in the royal palace complex, attracts Buddhist pilgrims from many parts of Asia.

Eye to eye with an elephant
8 December 2010 | Comments: 11
While in Sri Lanka can easily meet the elephants. Just go on a safari to one of the national parks, visit the orphanage in Pinnawali or (but I do not recommend) ride on an elephant. You can also, driving route from one city to another, pożywiającego see the elephant in the forest on the edge of the road. Extremely nice animals!
